Although it's not officially supported by ASI per their System Requirements, it is possible to install iMIS 10.6 on Windows Vista and Windows 7. The default installation however must be modified a bit by performing the following changes:
- Change the default installation location from C:\Program Files\iMIS10 to C:\iMIS10
- Reason: Windows Vista/7's new security enhancements such as Windows Defender watch for changes to Program files as a way of trying to hinder spyware/viruses, when using iMIS, it frequently updates the LBR files and Windows "complains" of the interactions
- Give users full control of the iMIS10 folder or make users Power Users on the local machine
- Locate the OMNIS.exe inside of the iMIS10/Omnis folder and right click on it
- Select properties
- Click on the Compatibility tab
- Check the Disable Windows Desktop Composition checkbox
- Select WindowsXP for the Compatibility mode
The above modifications to the install allow iMIS10 to run without issue.
