Amazing Winter 2010 NiUG Conference

The Winter 2010 NiUG Conference will be talked about and remembered for a long time to come, not only because of the terrible weather that made it impossible for some attendees to make it to San Antonio but also because of the great presentations.
The first day of the conference was chock full of great training sessions. I presented a very intensive session on “Understanding iMIS”. That was a huge topic to cover in less than 8 hours. But we succeed in trying to highlight many little features and bits of functionality that many of the attendees did not know even existed. Hopefully it was eye opening for anyone that attended. We closed out the day with a Texas tradition … bar-b-q. Our client appreciation dinner was at the famous County Line right on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Everyone enjoyed themselves and ate lots of ribs, brisket, and much more. (With the Olympics starting today …I would say we all got gold medals in the Meat Eating Olympics) Thank you everyone for being our clients!
The next two days were full of excellent sessions. The conference general session started off with a great presentation from iMIS founding father, Don Robertson. It was great hearing him talk about the evolution of iMIS and keeping customers for life with the iMIS products.
As always, us Nimblers were BUSY with sessions. Adam Carey and I had three presentations during the conference.
- Organizational Best Practices
- Converting to Google Apps from Microsoft
- i15 Public Views – Orders
These sessions were a great combination of the many things that NimbleUser excels at … from understanding how non profits work and operate to being a technology visionary and integrator. To stay with the Olympics theme … I think these sessions also deserve gold medals. These presentations can be downloaded now from NiUG and they will also be posting recorded sessions shortly. So stay tuned for those.
The two biggest concepts that I was able to take away from the conference were.
- Strategy/Planning – Having a plan or a strategy gives you the path to follow and get somewhere. It gives you direction, goals, and tasks that can be and are achievable.
- Nimble – BUT! Every organization also needs to be NIMBLE. They have to roll with it. NiUG rolled with the weather where other presenters covered for the ones that could not make it because of the weather. ASAE rolled into the “Unconference” making it virtual. How you react to the situation makes you a leader in your industry.
What a way to start off 2010, another excellent NiUG Conference. All of us Nimblers look forward to see you at the next NiUG Conference in Sacramento, CA on June 28-30, 2010. See you there!
