In the Rochester area and looking to get involved with a Non-Profit? The following opportunities are open, and great for Young Professionals and experienced volunteers alike!
Al Sigl Community of Agencies is
looking for some volunteers to add to its WalkAbout planning committee.
The committee meets monthly (usually breakfast or lunch on their
campus) and helps with sponsorship solicitation, prize donations,
entertainment, team and walker recruitment, and generating new ideas to
help grow the event. Contact Amanda Birchenough at amandab@alsigl.org or (585) 442-4102 x8944 for more information. (http://www.alsigl.org/walk.htm)
Corn Hill Navigation,
nonprofit operators of the Sam Patch and Mary Jemison boats, is looking
for young professionals to become involved with the organization. They
are specifically looking for someone to sit on their Marketing and
Sales Committee and people who can help them with charter sales. For
more information contact Vicki Schmitt at (585) 509-8229. (http://www.samandmary.org)
Literacy Volunteers of Rochester
would be pleased to have young professionals assume leadership roles
like committee membership and board service, particularly people
interested in fundraising, planning special events, and marketing. For more information contact John Williams at jwilliams@literacyrochester.org or (585) 473-3030. (http://www.literacyrochester.org)
Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse Region (PPRSR)
is looking for young professionals to join sub-committees to support
its young professional steering committee which provides leadership in
building a new generation of PPRSR supporters and advocates.
Sub-committees include fundraising, membership, advocacy and events.

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra is looking to create a young professionals group at the RPO. They have started looking for 10-15 people to have on a planning/leadership committee for the group. For more information contact Jill Pritchard at jpritchard@rpo.org or (585) 454-7311 x241. (http://www.rpo.org/)
Sojourner House is looking for dedicated young professionals to bring fresh ideas to the table on the Board, Committees, or general Volunteering. Their goal is to bring a younger subset of members into the organization with the hope that in a few years they will be vested enough in the SH mission to replace Board Members when they "retire" from their positions. For more information contact Portia Chiarella at portia_sojourner@yahoo.com or (585) 436-7100 x117. (http://www.sojournerhouse.org)
