I hear this statement at least once a week. Basically, association staff are tired of the status quo. In a sweeping statement, I would say that most AMS options available do an OK job in the general day to day transactional functionality. They let you process memberships, register people for events, purchase a product, and more. Those are all the basics. AMS 101.
Where these systems really fall flat on their face is in the area of hard core CRM functionality. Traditional AMS options were never built on a CRM platform. These options not only built their AMS 101 functionality but they also tried their best to include some basic and simple CRM functionality. That equation worked 5 years ago or 20 years ago.
